Pure Anna Montana Interview
Can you enlighten the audience on who you are?
On the internet i’m currently known as “Pure Anna”. I’m based in Madison Wisconsin. I make music on my computer, i dabble with a few different genres of music when it comes to the songs i like to make. I mainly create phonk-ish and drum n bass/dance music. I try to incorporate different feeling in my music compared to other artist’s in the phonk community using mystical upbeat melodies that give my songs a more ambient/chill impression. I do stray away from this at times and have plenty of dark hard cutting songs depending on the mood im in or what’s inspiring me. I have collaborated with other producers and vocalists from all over the world over the past 8 years ranging from places such as Poland and Columbia, and all over the United States.
Which aliases you got by and why?
Over the years i’ve had a plethora of different aliases. Some of which include; Wis, lil blood magick, giant kinder surprise egg, hyperborean pimp, and many others. I like creating a web of mysterious personalities that throw people off when told that they’re all really just myself.
Who are your favorite producers?
It’s very hard for me to think of who i would claim to be my favorite producers. If I wanted to go way back i would say listening to a lot of dj smokey was very inspirational. I’m constantly reposting and sharing music made by so many talented people that i draw inspiration from it’s difficult keeping track of it all.
Can you explain some of your favorite musical projects like songs, beats or mixes?
My favorite project is one that started it all. Before i got into producing my own music, i was really into making chopped and slowed versions of underground music that i was into back in 2016. I would also string together underground songs into huge hour long mixes that i would make visuals for and post them on youtube. One of those mixes made it onto a radio show known as “sanct.fm”. This mix was created using songs from a collective of soundcloud artists i was in contact with that when by the name “cyberlordz”. One of the members at the time just so happened to be ghostemane. I’m not sure there will ever be a time comparable to that of 2016-2018 in the soundcloud community. Everything felt so fresh and new, like we were all on the cutting edge of music, riding what i knew as “the wave”. Maybe i’m just getting old.
